Manchester City are a corrupt Football club and they need to be punished.

Manchester City Football Club are a bunch of cheaters. They have ruined the integrity of football and have changed the way people will view the premier league forever.

The Premier League is a professional association football league in England and the highest level of the English football league system. Contested by 20 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the English Football League. It was founded in 1992, when the top clubs of the previous top division broke away and formed a new league.

Financial rules for this new competition were put in place. These rules were intended to keep things fair. ¨The Premier League’s Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules are designed to ensure clubs pretty much spend what they earn. You can get around those potentially by inflating how much you’re earning or hiding how much you are spending.¨(Via Sky Sports). Some clubs have argued against these rules, as critics claim that it keeps the big clubs in power while not giving anyone else a chance. The already highly successful and popular clubs will make much more money than smaller clubs, allowing them to spend more money on new players and continue being dominant in the league

Man City was one of these smaller clubs who believed that the rules needed to be challenged. They were mediocre, and couldn’t compete with the traditional powerhouses in the Premier League

On September 1, 2008 Man City was bought out by Abu Dhabi United Group, an organization worth billions, based in the UAE. This new governing body grew ambitious. They didn’t buy the club for it to be a mid table club. They bought it to take the club to the top and earn a ridiculous amount of money.

The club decided to try and work around these rules in illegal ways. They were charged with 54 counts of Failure to provide accurate and up-to-date financial information (2009-2018), 14 counts of Failure to provide accurate financial reports for player and manager compensation (2009-2018), 5 counts of Failure to comply with UEFA’s regulations, including Financial Fair Play Regulations, 7 counts of Breaching Premier League Profitability and Sustainability regulations, and 35 counts of Failure to co-operate with Premier League investigations (2018-2023). All in all this is 115 counts of cheating in order to become more successful. The sheer amount of charges makes this situation so damning and infuriating for football fans both in England and also the rest of the world.

Clubs in the top league face off against each other in an European competition called the champions league. Man city have won a trophy in this competition, thereby stealing it from a team who didn’t cheat. The government body of European football will also most likely punish Manchester City. ¨Manchester City could face a huge punishment from UEFA if their appeal against the guilty verdict on 114 financial breaches fails.¨(Via GIveMeSPort).

The punishment for these cheaters needs to be huge. Both the Premier League and Champions League need to make a strong example out of this situation to ensure this does not happen again. ¨What Manchester city has done is crime and a disgrace to all soccer fans around the world¨, says Ethan Guy.
