Career Week: Mrs. Whitfield Interview

One of Central Regional’s kind and loving physical education teachers, Mrs. Whitfield, took some time out of her day to answer questions about her time as a teacher. She talked about how she’s always absolutely loved it, although it wasn’t her first choice for a career. Originally, she had dreamed of being in law enforcement. When she was younger, she had worked at Great Adventure as a part of their security for a while, as well as at a behavioral school, before thinking of going into law enforcement. However, she had ended up deciding against it and she soon recognized the passion that she had for teaching. In the interview, Mrs. Whitfield stated that being able to see students grow and being able to be a mentor figure for many of them makes her days better in a way that she had never imagined. Having the opportunity to help and connect with students changed her life in ways that law enforcement couldn’t have done. Teaching has quickly grown to be an amazing decision that she wouldn’t ever want to give up. She says that she couldn’t wish for a better job than her place here at Central Regional. Mrs. Whitfield is such an incredibly inspiring and admirable teacher here in the high school and she constantly brings never ending joy to everyone she comes across, both students and staff. She’s had such a large effect and created a safe and comforting community at Central. She’s had a very positive impact on the lives of everyone involved in the school and became a very beloved figure.  Without her warm presence, the school wouldn’t be the same.
