What are Central’s Seniors doing post-graduation?
It is May and that means the graduation season for Central has begun. This is when many start to wonder, “What will our Central Seniors be doing after college?”. Well it is my job to unravel the future plans of one Miss Kaitlyn Hudson, one of our graduating seniors. Kaitlyn Hudson is 18 years old and ready to start her life in adulthood. This, of course, starts with her attending college. Kaitlyn will be going to Ocean County College(OOC) for four years and then after will enroll into Stockton University for four more years. That’s a total of eight full years of college. Now that makes you wonder, “What kind of profession is she going in that requires at least eight years of college? ”I had the exact question. And her answer was “I’m going to school to be an autopsy specialist.”
And just a little background, an autopsy specialist is a highly trained medical doctor who performs post-mortem examinations. That’s all to say that they are doctors that investigate and determine the cause of death. This kind of practice is typically used with unexpected, suspicious, or unnatural deaths that need more information to explain what exactly happened and if there was foul play. It’s not everyday you find someone who aspires to work in a morgue.
So I asked Miss Kaitlyn Hudson, What about being an autopsy pathologist interests you?. Her response can be summarized in these words “I find learning the reasons behind what causes one’s death to be incredibly fascinating and want to have the ability to determine those causes myself.” I don’t know about you but I find that to be completely interesting and a lovely profession to go into. Lastly I asked her one of the post popular questions a graduating senior gets asked: Where do you see yourself in ten years?Miss Hudson answered “ I plan to live in either Italy, Australia, or I might just end up staying in New Jersey.” I liked this answer, how it lacks too much structure and is up to bend around changes that can happen in her future. Personally I think many of us get too caught up with our answers to this question. We focus too hard on the idea of our futures that we forget things change. We change and there is nothing wrong with adjusting your present plans to suit the future you. This was just the plans of one graduating senior and the opinion of another.
