Halloween Movies To Watch This Halloween Season

Halloween only comes once a year, from spooktacular costumes, fun parties, trick or treating, to spooky halloween movies! In this article, I am going to list some great Halloween movies to watch during this spooky season.

The first movie is my personal favorite, Hocus Pocus. This movie is about three witch sisters who are resurrected after 300 years by two teens and a little sister. I love this movie because it’s comforting to me. The fun halloween scenes and the spooky song “I put a spell on you” gives me a reason to watch it multiple times each year during this season.

The second movie I’m recommending is a good classic, Corpse Bride. It can be described as a gothic fairytale with dark humor, haunting visuals, and a soundtrack by Danny Elfman. When it’s Tim Burton, you know you’re in for a treat. I always enjoy Tim Burton movies during the Halloween season because it leaves me enjoying the music and feeling slightly disturbed by the gothic visuals.

The third movie I chose for this list is The Monster House. The Monster House is a spooky but fun, light-hearted yet sad movie to watch during Halloween. It includes elements of Halloween, personal life of characters, and action. The reason why I love this movie is because it’s simple with a twisted story. I also get a good laugh out of the characters, especially Chowder.

For the fourth movie, I chose to list Coraline because everyone LOVES Coraline. Coraline is a stop-motion animated movie created by LAIKA studios and written by Neil Gaiman as a book first. The movie includes many spooky elements especially when she finds the other world that lies within her own house. I love the disturbing elements within this movie. I believe being disturbed is much more scary than a lot of horror elements because they leave me wondering and thinking about, in this case, what the “other world” is about.

The fifth movie I enjoyed watching was Hubie Halloween. This movie is a newer Halloween movie made in 2020. This is an Adam Sandler movie so you know it’s going to be good. It’s funny, festive, and full of entertainment. The first time I watched this movie, I was worried I wouldn’t think of it as a staple in my Halloween movie watchlist, but I was proved so wrong. This movie is a must-watch because it’s not only funny but also has a great ending.

The sixth and final movie I will be recommending is The Nightmare Before Christmas. So many people argue if this is a Halloween movie or a Christmas movie, but I think it can be both! This movie is another great Tim Burton Classic that puts you right into the Halloween spirit. I see this movie as a welcoming bridge between the two holidays. I am also a big personal fan of the romance between Sally and Jack.
