It feels like the season’s gone by so fast, but here we are now, just before the AFC & NFC Championship Games, and only a couple of weeks before we find out who will become the champion of the NFL in February. Everyone is on the edge of their seats, as this year, it seems like any one of these teams could win the Super Bowl. With this being said, people love to start making predictions on who will win it all. The question is the same year by year: who will hold the Lombardi Trophy? Year by year, it’s new faces, new discussions, and new circumstances, but now, as of January 23rd, it’s my turn to ask the question. Who will win the Super Bowl?

Collecting data for this was challenging, as I had a short timeframe and many people in our school were uninterested in the winner. However, using data from 30 different people, these results will likely surprise some people. To start off, out of the 30 people we have asked, the majority picked the New England Patriots as their Superbowl winner (11 votes). This comes as no surprise, as a winning culture in New England has been established after decades of winning with Tom Brady. This team is on a roll, taking down Superbowl Contenders left and right, and is tied for the best record in the entire league Lead by MVP Candidate Drake Maye, he and the Patriots have gathered a cult following.

Even though they gathered the majority, the percentage of people who think they will win is only around 36.7%, as the Seattle Seahawks are right behind them with 10 votes and around 33.3% of the entire vote. The surprising part is how close they were to tying. As I mentioned, all of these teams are at the top of their games, and the race is as close as any. The Seahawks, just like the Patriots, are a surprising team. Coming off a year where they barely missed the playoffs, many people thought this could be a fluke year. Adding Sam Darnold in the offseason, however, seemed to change a lot of this, as the Seahawks have completely turned things around. Tied with the best record in the league, the entire team grew, and players like Jaxon Smith-Njigba became certified superstars. It’s no wonder this team was picked a lot to win, because the amount of big-time plays and clutch wins I’ve seen from this squad is unbelievable.

Now for the real shockers, the Broncos, as only 2 people thought they could win the Superbowl! How can the #1 team in the AFC be seen as the underdogs going into the Championship game? Well, I’ll tell you, they’re missing their star QB. Bo Nix, the starting QB for the 14-3 Broncos, fractured part of his ankle in the last seconds of an overtime game against the Bills and is reportedly out for the entire season. This is heartbreaking for fans, as now Jarrett Stidham, backup quarterback but former starter in 2023, is taking the field to lead this team in their most challenging game yet. This one fact alone is the reason people cited as to why they think they couldn’t even make the Superbowl, much less win it. While it is very unlikely that a backup quarterback can win a game against such a hot team in the playoffs, not taking many snaps with the all pros on the team, you can never write off the underdog. History tends to repeat itself, and as many times before, I wouldn’t be surprised if this team can win against the Patriots this Sunday.

Lastly, we have the Los Angeles Rams, who received 7 votes (around 23.3% of the vote). This team is battle-ready and constantly shows up when needed the most. However, overall offensive play has been volatile as of late. The Rams barely squeaked past the Chicago Bears in an overtime win, 20-17, and didn’t look the best in the game as they constantly made boneheaded and costly plays in the clutch. Now, on the brighter side of things, this team also has a culture for winning, as they have the only coach currently in the playoffs who won a Superbowl with their team (the Rams won in 2022). Coach Sean McVay is a mastermind and does stuff at such a young age that people look forward to achieving in their entire lives. He is a winner, and with a veteran, MVP-level quarterback in Matthew Stafford, and a lethal receiving duo in Puka Nacua and Davante Adams, it’ll take an army to stop this team. With a multitude of all star level players, great coaching, and experience all across the board, they have as much chance as any to bring the trophy home another time for the fans in LA.

On February 8th, 2026, a new NFL champion will be crowned in San Francisco, and the race has become extremely neck and neck. Star-studded teams, record breakers, MVP candidates, and more will all take the stage and attempt to prove their worth to the league, but only one will accomplish the highly coveted title of being the Super Bowl LX winner. What does our school think is going to happen? Most likely, the Patriots are coming out with their 7th Franchise Super Bowl dream, but others disagree. It could be Stafford and the Rams taking the reins once again and running the league from here on out. It could be the Broncos and their Cinderella Story, winning one for the loyal fans in Denver, Colorado. Or, it could even be the Seahawks, winning their first in franchise history without Russell Wilson, proving that they could still win at a high level. We won’t know for certain until the final seconds drain from the clock on February 8th, but until then, these are the thoughts of your peers, and the thoughts of many.
