Paws, Claus, and Holiday Cheer at Veteran Park
On November 15th, just last week, Veteran’s Park was transformed into a cheerful Christmas wonderland for the 2nd annual Pet Pics With Santa event, proudly hosted by the Paws and Claws Club at Central Regional Highschool. From the moment that Santa arrived, families, students and their adorable pets filled the park with excitement and plenty of wagging tails.
Attendees had the fun choice to take pictures with: Santa Claus, the Grinch, or BOTH for the ultimate holiday combo! Pets of all shapes and sizes got their spotlight posing on the festive backdrops. Some even came wearing holiday outfits, while others simply enjoyed the attention.
Food was everywhere in the best way. The snack tables were loaded with homemade cookies, brownies, Rice Krispies, and other sweets for people to enjoy. Alongside the human treats were plenty of dog and cat treats, so neither had to miss out.
This is only the second time this event has been run. To make it more memorable, the club had the idea of stuffing stockings for the pets! Members of the Paws and Claws Club helped run a special stocking stuffer station, where attendees could fill mini stockings with cute holiday trinkets. They even helped decorate the stockings! People loved choosing items, and the volunteers kept everything organized and fun.
One of the most exciting parts of the day was the variety of pets that showed up! Among the crowd were a monitor lizard, a giant rabbit, two chickens and a tiny gecko, all proudly held up for pictures. These unique guests made the event even more memorable and showed just how diverse the community’s love for animals is.
Many had mentioned how they’re pets get nervous at times like this, but it was fine sitting next to the Grinch! There was a time where a dog couldn’t get up the stairs, so Santa had brought himself to the dog to take photos. It was nice to see everyone being so patient with the pets!
Overall, Pet Pics With Santa was a lively, heartwarming success! It brought the community and animals of all kinds together for a day of festive fun. The Paws and Claws Club helped create a cozy, welcoming atmosphere that celebrated the holiday spirit and the joy pets bring to our lives. Here’s to next year’s event being even bigger, sweeter, and filled with even more paws, claws, feathers, and scales! 🐾🎄
